Footballers who fought in the First World War will be remembered at this month's meeting of the East of London Family History Society at Wanstead Library.

"My talk starts with the impact the outbreak of war had on the associations, clubs and individuals... I continue with the Footballer Battalions that were formed, especially the 17th Middlesex and their experiences at the front," said Michael Potter, whose talk follows the group's AGM, which starts at 7pm on 28 November (visitors: £1.50).
